It’s official! New tanned faces and national jerseys are added to the game, a big claim manager Williamson led for many years, specially the national rankings (for obvious reasons, Iranman has benefited either). Evidently, those topics got nothing to do with our negotiations on transfer market, but it’s a good intro for other good news for the team.
We’ve secured two crucial renewals. Aksentiev and Hanák have signed their new contracts and they will stay with the team longer. Two different negotiations and situations for both cyclist (one of them a potential cyclist for many seasons). Richard Masson closed the negotiations and met the Macedonian sprinter to sign up his new contract.
Metodija Aksentiev: Accompanied by the team ambassador, Metodija shook hands before signing the contract and followed the usual protocol (pictures, announcement video for Amstel Flanders TV, etc). “I’m very proud to be part of this great family, we’ve enjoyed a wonderful journey and a good season, so happy to finally tell you it’s gonna be one more season. I have to thank manager Williamson, our staff, doctors, mechanics, trainers, for your appreciation, let’s go Amstel!” were Aksentiev’s first words after confirming the good news. From the team, Mr. Masson highlighted his dedication and partnership, emphasizing it’s not just a one-season extension; leaving an open door for a potential spot as team trainer or team executive.
Metodija Aksentiev - 35 years old (Last Season) - (214 SP) (RENEWED) ---- (1 season deal left) [New Contract, until S67]
Fully-detailed deal: 1 season (S67, he will be 37), salary down to 750k$ (S66 is 1,7M$ - previous offer was 600k$ salary), no bonus if scoring from BA (25k$ previously). 500k$ fee if joining the Training Staff within five seasons (starting from S68 until S72).
Konštantín Hanák: Finally manager Williamson can sleep relaxed. The Slovakian jewel will be red and black for many seasons. Only a few really know how tough negotiations were, but everyone agree this was the case, taking in consideration the skills and youth of this cyclist. Still, it’s the best triumph of the team this season by far (Hanák will turn 23 in a few days) and with this new deal… competition can forget of tempting our talented rider (laughs).
“Becoming a professional cyclist was my biggest dream and here I found the best place to live the dream with open eyes. I want to win races with this great team and I’m very confident we’ll make it very soon, again; I must thank everyone that made this possible… my family, the team, fans,” Hanák said. Holding the team’s jersey with his name written on, Konštantín posed for the media and signed some kits for our fanclub. About his renovation, manager Williamson only had compliments for his rider.
“We never had doubts of his talent, Konštantín has everything to leave mark in our team and OCM. Both parts were willing to make big sacrifices to stay together for many seasons and give the best news for all,” manager Williamson affirmed.
One of the most avid followers of ‘Case Hanák’, Gary Lineker; talked about the negotiations that led to a happy renewal. “It’s a long-term deal, perhaps one of the longest contracts signed up in OCM’s history. What I can assure you, Lindberg will be affected significantly; not in the way of being forced out of the team, no… the Hanáks made a smart move to convince the team manager to remove the clause in his contract that “compelled” Hanák to perform as Lindberg’s teammate on certain races,” Lineker stated. Time will tell…
Konštantín Hanák - 22 years old (4 seasons deal left) - (223 SPTQ) (RENEWED) ---- (12 season deal left) [New Contract, until S78]
Fully-detailed deal: 12 seasons (Until S78, former deal ended at S70, previous offer was S75. He will be 35 years old with new contract), salary increased to 1,8M$ (40k$ currently, previous offer was 1,5M$), will be allowed to choose his own calendar. 200k bonus (previous offer 250k$) if he makes it to Slovakian NT and 500k bonus if scoring results (up to 1M$ add ons if winning a WT race within 3 seasons, starting from S66), 200k$ bonus if scoring 5+ results at the end of every season. The team also will try to get some Slovakian helpers for his Lead-Out train, as requested by Hanák.
Over n’ Out.
